This month we will explore literary tropes. These are the commonly used themes, devices, and conventions of fiction. We’ll discuss how to utilize these tropes without sounding cliché or repetitive. Although we will focus on science fiction and fantasy conventions, many of these topics apply to all writing. We will include writing prompts and exercises to help us practice these skills. For February’s Monthly Meeting, SAWG welcomes guest speaker and romance writer Bambi Lynn. Bambi will join us from Huntsville, Alabama, to discuss her journey from traditional publishing to self-publishing, the creative process, writing routines, and research methods.
