SUMMARY:October Monthly Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Writing for Contests & Themed Submissions \nLead by Ian Grogan\, join us to explore the craft and strategy behind writing for competition and calls for submissions with specific criteria. We’ll examine developing a compelling premise to creating engaging characters\, effective structure\, and working within the confines of given restraints (i.e. word limits). We’ll discuss how to establish a strong narrative voice\, create impact with concise writing and how to revise your work with a competition audience in mind. Whether you’re entering your first competition\, submitting to your first literary journal or looking to strengthen your approach\, this meeting will provide practical techniques for developing polished\, engaging stories that leave an impression. \nWe will meet at the Black Potion on Fredericksburg Rd. Parking is in the gravel parking lot next to the building\, as shown in the picture below. \n \nCome early and chat with fellow writers! Black Potion serves food and beverages.
